Land/Landing
This word can be both a verb and a noun. For me, land is about the place I am from, as well as the places I have been to or lived in. It is a reminder of my identity. At the same time, landing is not just about arrival—it is also connected to the country itself and the community within it, both of which become part of the story of settling somewhere. It is like how tree roots reach into the ground, or how animals find their habitats. As humans, we too must search for and create a place where we belong.
The word land also reminds me of when I first learned why Taiwan had so many immigrants when I was young. It left me confused about my own territorial identity. But as I grew older, I realised that some people do not choose to leave their country, while others may find a better life elsewhere. In many ways, I am the same, living in another country now, seeking a better life.
