KWABO is a BIPOC-led art incubator program designed to support emerging artists through mentorship, skill development, and public presentation. The program fosters cultural safety and celebrates the richness of diverse creative voices through participatory and collaborative art-making.
KWABO means "welcome" in Fon, a dialect from Benin. Beyond its literal meaning, KWABO encompasses the welcoming spirit of guests by members of the villages in both Togo and Benin. The local community would gather to celebrate the guests’ arrival by dancing, singing and playing music.
Produced by Gracieuse Amah, Founder and Creative Director of Kwabo Events, KWABO Fest returns from July 19th to September 21st 2025. This year the program includes 9-week artist led incubator program in 4 different artforms, a cultural talk, a performance night featuring incubator participants and local artists, djs, photography exhibition and video projections, a community meal and more…
